03/20/2024 07:30 PM - 05/28/2024 09:00 PM ET

Description

Dr. Natalie Lerch, Encore University educator, teaching artist, and performer, joins Encore University's Masterclass series for a conversation on women's roles in opera! A Zoom link for the event will be included as a part of your email receipt.

Join Dr. Natalie Lerch for a special Masterclass in celebration of Women's History Month that will explore women's history, roles, and contributions to the operatic world!

This Masterclass will begin by tracing the roots and evolution of women's roles in opera, starting with the roles that women have played on stage in opera as an art form. We will then dive into the work of women behind the scenes and front-and-center as composers. Along the journey, we will touch on how women's roles in society are reflected in operatic roles, how a woman's "character" is portrayed musically, and take a look into what contemporary composers are writing now.

We'll dip our toes into the discussion of women in opera for a lively discussion and Q&A session that will leave you enriched and engaged.

Can't make it to the Zoom? A recorded version of the presentation will be available for all registrants after the session to watch whenever you would like!
