CLASS DESCRIPTION: Join Amy C. Georgeais, Program Director for the Stroke Comeback Center to explore education on stroke, signs and symptoms of stroke and stroke prevention and treatment.  In addition, we will discuss aphasia and the aphasia community.  Finally, Amy will introduce you to the Stroke Comeback Center, which is a community-based facility which serves stroke survivors and their families and their ongoing recovery efforts.

 

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Amy C. Georgeadis, MS, CCC-SLP is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist with 30 years of experience working with survivors of stroke and brain injury.  She received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University and her master’s degree from Gallaudet University. She had a 20-year career working on the stroke and brain injury unit as a senior inpatient therapist at Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital.  There, she had extensive research experience investigating the efficacy and feasibility of telerehabilitation. She has been with Stroke Comeback Center since 2013 and became the Program Director in 2020.  Amy enjoys working with stroke survivors and witnessing their resilience and hard work, which results in a lifetime of progress.
