All classes meet at 4 PM ET (EXCEPT Monday (4:30 PM ET) / 1 PM PT (1:30 PM PT) and meet for 10 weeks.

MONDAYS: African American Music, History, and Culture with Dr. Abimbola Kai-Lewis
**Note: This class begins at 4:30pm ET**
Course Description: Join us for this new class examining the evolution of African American music! We will study a range of multimedia resources including artist profiles, documentary excerpts, and listening examples. These components will support us in our weekly explorations of the cultural and historical origins of African American music.
TUESDAYS: The Cinematic Score: Music's Role in Storytelling in Film with Ethan Lolley
Course Description: This course explores the pivotal role of music in shaping cinematic experiences. From sweeping orchestral themes to subtle ambient tones, this class dives into how composers craft scores that elevate storytelling, evoke emotion, and create lasting cultural impact. Through analysis of iconic soundtracks, students will uncover the techniques, history, and artistry behind some of the most memorable film music in history. Perfect for film enthusiasts, music lovers, and aspiring composers alike!
WEDNESDAYS: Songs of the World with Joey Clark
Course Description: Explore the musical tapestry of the globe in this World Folk Music class as we delve into sounds that have been passed down from generation to generation. Traveling through the world of lullabies, sea shanties, and traditional sounds from villages and smaller communities, we will be listening, learning, sharing and discussing songs passed down in the oral tradition.
THURSDAYS: Building Your Voice with Jacquelynne Fontaine-Isaac
Course Description: Join Encore conductor Jacquelynne Fontaine-Isaac as she leads you through accessible and engaging vocal workouts designed to help you build your voice no matter where you are on your journey as a singer.
Throughout this 10--week course you'll learn valuable vocal warm-up techniques, tips for building vocal stamina, exercises to help you extend your range, and best practices for keeping your voice healthy and growing into the new year! No lecture - all singing!
*While not necessary to participate, if you've taken any of Jacquelynne's previous EU classes, "Building your Voice" will apply concepts learned in "Singing101" and "Class Voice."
FRIDAYS: A Spotlight on LGBTQ+ Artists with Dr. Grace Sikorski
Course Description: LGBTQ+ people have contributed greatly to the visual and performing arts, as well as popular art, past and present. Join us as we explore this exciting topic! At each meeting we will discuss one artist's work, and consider how it reflects its historical and cultural context and the artist's own unique point of view.
